Adoption Policy and Procedures

Adoption Policies

All applicants must fill out an application to adopt.  Each application must be filled out in its entirely to be processed.  This includes the home photos that must be sent.  In lieu of home photos, you may also send a video.  You may choose to have a home visit instead but this can delay your application for up to a week or more and you might end up missing out on a dog that you’re really interested in! Please include as much detail as possible – we like to get to know potential adopters as much as possible through your application in order to find the best possible fit. For puppies, please include your care plan for during the day (for example, work from home, able to bring dog to work, dog walker, puppy daycare, etc.) Puppies under 12 weeks should not be alone for more than 2-3 hours at a time.

Unfortunately we are unable to respond to every adoption inquiry or application. We process and review all applications for best fit for the specific dog you are applying for.

If your application is approved, you’ll be notified and a meet and greet will  be set up with the foster family. This should be scheduled at earliest mutual convenience. Upon meeting a dog, if you decide to adopt you have 24 hours to complete the adoption and pay the adoption fee.

Please note, we do not issue blanket adoption approvals. Adoption approvals are issued on a dog by dog basis, as we believe there are different perfect fits for each dog!

Occasionally, dogs will be pending spay/neuter upon adoption.  No dog is adopted out without an appointment day and time, and this will be written into your adoption contract.  If you don’t show up to the appointment for any reason, without notifying the directors at least 24 hours in advance, we reserve the right to take back possession of the dog.

All dogs are vetted, spayed/neutered (unless there is a medical reason why they can’t be) and microchipped by the rescue.

Adoption fees vary by dog. For many of our dogs, we follow an all breed rescue adoption fee schedule (for example, a Golden Retriever rescue or a French Bulldog Rescue).

Adoption fees are waived for disabled Veterans adopting senior dogs.  WE LOVE OUR TROOPS!!!!!
